I use disagreements between data sources to detect coercion where actors can manipulate what is reported about them. Previous cases include a single agroindustrial firm in coastal Honduras, the national government of Afghanistan, opium cultivation under competing armed groups in northern Myanmar, and soil degradation along a displacement corridor in eastern Cameroon.
Since 2015 I’ve worked across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the American South in teaching, social work, manual labor, and program design. Examples include co-founding a teacher-training program in Egypt (2017–present) and developing cybersecurity curricula and training for USAID in Kazakhstan (2021). Hablo español.
